The Special Education Problems We Aren't Solving – SchoolBook

This teacher would not last long in many school districts... How dare she insinuate that they only react to situations where the parent is actively involved and advocating for their child...

She even claims that special education is failing her students that need it.

I would put money on her being at another school district next year.

The joke of politics - Killing a Mountain Lion and Knowing its a Molehill

Majority of California Assembly members call for resignation of wildlife official who killed mountain lion - San Jose Mercury News

Dear Senator Lieu and Hueso,

Please do not lower yourself by telling Mr. Richards how he should act while not on official business and not sitting behind his desk as California Fish and Game Commission President. Just because California prohibits the killing of mountain lions, does not prohibit an individual from taking part in such outdoor activities where the activity is allowed.

Personally I do not view Mr. Richards as a godhead that citizens are supposed to honor and obey or revere. His authority is in the position he holds. NOT some cockamamie idea of what lawmakers think it should be. What I DO expect him to know is how the California Fish and Game Commission is run. To know that he respects the laws of California is actually refreshing.

I am actually glad to see that Mr Richards actually takes an interest in, and is part of, the activity he holds a position in.

This is very different from your example of the Director of National Drug Control Policy smoking pot in a jurisdiction that would allow it. This was way out of line and an insult to my intelligence. Drugs are in no way a healthy activity, whereas getting outdoors and enjoying nature is.

Hunting is a sport. Depending on what you hunt, you may find that the only place to hunt is out of state. That's the way it is for some types of game. He chose to hunt mountain lion. As a sportsman. He was not out there in a "take this, California" stance. He did not state in his comments that he was mad that California made him travel further just to find mountain lion to hunt.

Please do not waste my taxpayer dollars to take this overrated issue to such a level that would embarrass the millions of Californians who are looking for some semblance of order and sanity and straight-forward thinking from our elected officials.

I was once a fan of the Sierra Club, hoping the best for California’s outdoors and its environment, but after hearing how you, Mr Huesso, and your fellow compatriots are acting over this matter, I can no longer look at any position they have or take as level-headed.

Your actions and the actions of your fellow Assemblymen against Mr. Richards do not represent my standing on this issue. I fail to see how Mr Richards’ actions warrant ANY action that my earned taxpayer money should support.Thank you for your time.

14 Flips in a row?

Every professional football game begins with the flip of a coin, to determine who gets the ball first. In the case of the Super Bowl, the teams represent the National Football Conference (NFC) or American Football Conference (AFC). Interestingly, the last 14 coin flips have been won by the NFC.

Read Across America Day in United States

Time to get your book on....
In 1997 an organization known as the National Education Association (NEA), pushed for a special day to celebrate reading throughout the United States. This idea proved to be a popular one so it was not long before the first Read Across America Day was held on March 2, 1998. This nationwide observance coincides with the birthday of Dr Seuss (Geisel), an American writer best known writing children’s books. Some of his books include Green Eggs and Ham, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, and The Cat in the Hat.

The NEA represents about 3.2 million elementary and secondary teachers, higher education faculty, education support professionals, school administrators, retired educators and students preparing to become teachers. It provides resources and activities for educators, parents, and children.

My Storm of Loss and Saying Good Bye to Loved Ones

There comes a time in everyone's life when you have to say good bye to a loved one. You may never know the time, nor the circumstances, but it happens. Being prepared is not an option; You never are. You just have to plant your feet firmly against the buffeting storm of loss, look to the skies, know that the winds will change, and be at peace in the turmoil.

The past 12 months have been a whammy for me. Losing a close friend's Father, an old Friend, a past co-worker, a childhood friend's Mother and my Birth Mother who gave me up to a wonderful life 50-something years ago.
I'm not sure how often this happens to one person, but it sure did happen to me.

I knew them all.
Some knew me better than others.
None a greater loss than the rest.
All have a piece of my heart.
But to my Birth Mother goes a piece of me. It's like a part of my life has been removed from this Earth. A void exists where I once found pieces of me in a past I never lived.

Finding words to console me now is kind of a useless effort. I'm sure they're out there, but time will let me find them. Then the healing will begin.
For now, the storm is losing it's strength. Or maybe I'm getting better at planting my feet. Maybe I'm learning which way to turn so the pelting rain hitting my face hurts less.

I'm sure that a few more tears will be shed, and a lot of times remembered will bring smiles. Priceless times to hold in my heart, remembering loved ones with the joy they brought.

Rest in Peace, Faithful Souls. Rest in Peace.

M
