"There no longer is a place called Rancho Palos
Verdes. In fact, studies by the UCLA Psychology
Department have indicated that Rancho Palos
Verdes is an imaginary place, a state of mind
created by some who cannot accept the idea that
they actually live in such marginal places of
the Southern California neuroses like Redondo
Beach, Torrance, or ... for a few unlucky souls,
San Pedro. In their delusionary state they
make statements like 'I live near Rancho Palos
Verdes,' but in fact mean 'My wife cleans houses
for extra money over there,' or 'I do landscape
work for some people I know' or 'I buy beer at
Malaga Cove.'"
